Does Your Filter Need To Be Replaced?

Did you know that by not replacing your filter, you cause more wear and tear to your air condition unit?

Think of it this way. You use your air conditioning unit more than you use your car. Your air condition runs all day, all night, every day, every hour, if you don’t think you need to do maintenance on your unit and you do not pay attention to it, then you will end up suffering financial consequences.

Air filters are as low as $2.50, and have different MERV ratings.

What is a MERV rating?

MERV stand for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) and the values vary from 1 to 16.

What does that mean for you?

It means that if your filter is in the low end such as a 2 or 3, that is the amount of dust, dirt and grime protection that your air conditioner coil is getting.

It is important to protect your coil, because the dirt that gets onto your air conditioner coil will clog the grill and will not allow for proper airflow, making all the parts of your system have to work harder and longer causing faster wear and tear.

Atlas Electrical, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration sells filters, that help to protect your air condition unit, you can buy them by the dozen so they are readily available to change out as required.

Some filters require that you replace them monthly, some every 2 months, and some may even last up to 3 months, but replacement is KEY. It only takes 5 min out of your month to look at the filter, and make sure it isn’t black or infiltrated with dust and dirt so that you can save in the long run.

There is lots more to talk about in filters, but that is for another day. In the meantime just remember:

Protect your family – replace your filter
